Take advantage of this amazing opportunity to train with a great Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor, and Ralph Gracie Black Belt, Brad Jackson. Brad, who trained with David Ruiz at the Gracie Academy in California, and received his black belt from Ralph Gracie in 2000, will be teaching a seminar at the Denver Gym on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at 1:00pm. Early registration (through the end of Feb.) is only $40. At the seminar, not only will you receive Brad’s top notch instruction, but you will have the opportunity to train with some of the top Ralph Gracie Black and Brown belts, including BJJ competition phenom, Sean Roberts. Congratulations to all the CBJJ folks who stepped up and put it on the line at the 2012 Fight To Win Tournament of Champions 10. Many, kids and adults alike, came away with gold, silver or bronze. Great work folks!

A huge congratulation to Eric Sahs who not only took gold at the 2012 Fight To Win Tournament of Champions 10, but who won his purple belt by doing so! Awesome job Eric, way to earn your purple!

2012 “Colorado State Machado Challenge” (Invitational) is this Sunday, January 22nd (tomorrow)! Machado Colorado springs BJJ, together with all of the CBJJ gyms will be participating at this time! The Tournament will be held at the Denver Gym (4990 E. Asbury Ave., Denver, CO 80222), on Sunday, Jan 22nd, from 9am-12pm (or thereabouts). Participants can earn a Machado Jiu Jitsu medal and title! Come on out and roll or just to support your teammates. See you there!

Interested in trying out some Kettlebell Training for strength and conditioning? Here is your chance. Head instructor of the Colorado Kettlebell Club (located directly behind the CBJJ Denver Academy), Nico Rithner is offering a special free Kettlebell seminar specifically designed for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners. The seminar will be held this Sunday, January 15th at 12:30, immediately before Sunday open mat training at the Denver gym. All CBJJ athletes are welcome to participate. Happy New Year CBJJ!!!

Here’s to a great year of training, health, and well-being. Please review your Academy Schedule, as the Denver Gym has made some changes to its Monday and Wednesday Adult Class Schedule. In summary, the Beginner and Intermediate Classes on Monday and Wednesday nights have been combined, and Beginner/Intermediate Class begins at 5pm with Advanced Class starting at 6pm.

Hope to see you on the mat often in 2012!

Congratulations to all the CBJJ competitors who battled on the mat at the Grappler’s X Gi and No-Gi BJJ tournament today, December 4, 2011. Everyone who competed did great, and many medals, gold, silver, and bronze were won by both the CBJJ kids and adults. Way to go CBJJ!

Congratulations to all of the CBJJ competitors who rolled in the 2011 Fight To Win Nationals. Most of our competitors came home with hardware, whether gold, silver or bronze, and everybody who had the courage to step on the mat and put their training to the test did a fabulous job representing CBJJ and the jiu jitsu practiced there.
Great job folks!

JOSH GOLDBERGER – PURPLE!!!

Congratulations to Josh Goldberger for achieving the rank of Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! Well done sir! Josh was awarded his Purple Belt, by 3rd Degree Rigan Machado Black Belt, Professor David Ruiz of Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, on 11/11/11. Josh has demonstrated his mastery of the fighting aspects of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Mixed Martial Arts competition by winning and retaining both the Fight to Win and the Kickdown 170lbs Amateur Championship Belts. Many of his wins have come by way of solid jiu jitsu, including a devastatingly efficient and technical 57 second triangle from top in his most recent Fight to Win title defense.

A purple belt has mastered the basics of jiu jitsu, now it’s up to Josh to master his own jiu jitsu game in pursuit of the Black Belt! Josh currently trains BJJ and teaches MMA Striking at CBJJ Stapleton.
