Isaiah Villarreal - 2007 CKA State Grappling Champion

What makes a champion a champion? Honor, discipline, courage, and loyalty, are all traits of what makes a champion. Colorado BJJ Kids class standout, Isaiah Villarreal is a true representitive of what makes a champion.

Isiah started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu quite some time ago and has achieved, and surpassed, goals set by Colorado BJJ Instructor Nobau Yagai, his father, and most important, Isaiah himself. By winning the prestigous Colorado Karate Association Kids State Grappling tournament Isaiah has acheived a goal, most adults who practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wish they would have when they were children his age. Isiah has done it!

Although, losing his first few tournaments the ladder for growth within Isaiah was steep but obviously very acheiveable. Continuouly being dedicated and disciplined, showing up virtually to every class he can get in, Isaiah has proven to be a force on the mat. When most children are at home watching TV and/or playing video games Isaiah is at class learning the gentle art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Colorado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu preaches the essentials of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and teach kids with such precise and respect we want all children that train at Colorado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to be a direct respresentation of that.

With Isaiah's father eagerly watching at every class, Isaiah keeps a clear head when training by going over that particular lesson several times completely focused when at class, which is another reason he's now a State Champion. With his father, sometimes going to the length of practicing together at home. Being a U.S. Marine, the honor and respect the U.S. Marines enstill in every solider, have clearly been poured into Isaiah. This achievement is something very special not only for Isaiah, but for his parents, Colorado BJJ instructors, and fellow students.

Colorado BJJ is very excited to award Isaiah Villarreal our first BJJ Orange Belt and honored to have such a successful student. When Asked what Isaiah is planning for the future Isaiah replied "maybe MMA"? Well, we'll be the first to officially say we have a future UFC competitor in our mist and if anyone has the natural ability, Isaiah certainly does! Isaiah will be back next year to compete with an even bigger fire burning to get this same trophy next year.
