Nobuo Yagai - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Childrens Instructor
Nobuo has been studying martial arts since he was six years old. He began his training in Kendo (Samurai swordsmanship). He has studied full-contact Karate for over ten years and used his Karate expertise to become the 1997 Japanese National Sansho Full-Contact Kung Fu Champion.
In 2000, Karate brought Nobuo to the United States where he trained and served as a full-time, Karate apprentice at his school’s International headquarters. During his apprenticeship, a challenger entered the dojo and Nobuo was forced to fight this challenger. The fight quickly ended up on the ground. Although Nobuo was able to come out of this fight unscathed, his reflections on the situation showed the importance of ground defense skills, or grappling. It was after this that Nobuo started studying Jiu-Jitsu. Nobuo has also studied various other martial arts, including Judo, Wrestling, Kung-Fu, Muay Thai, and Boxing. He feels that Jiu-Jitsu is an integral part of his martial arts practice since throughout the evolution of Jiu-Jitsu, from Japan to Brazil, the roots of Jiu-Jitsu’s Samurai history have been preserved.
Nobuo is currently training under Professor David Ruiz at Colorado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where he is studying Gracie Jiu-Jitsu methods and techniques. Nobuo teaches the Kids’ Jiu-Jitsu class and assists in the Beginner Adult classes.
Nobuo Yagai is a licensed International personal fitness trainer and certified in CPR ressesitation.
Nobuo Yagai is currently a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Dave Ruiz and has been teaching martial to kids since 1996.
